Hello all!
I am very new to the RAQ3 and managing a server and am just trying to learn
a few things and help out a few friends.
I read through the archives and saw some info on creating just POP accounts
for users. I want to host a couple of sites on my RAQ3 for a couple of
friends and want to obviously have email addresses like webmaster@xxxxxxxxx
and webmaster@xxxxxxxxxx I would prefer not to use the alias method put
forth by Cobalt.
I would like them to have POP3 accounts in addition to the one granted to
the user and would like them to be able to login to the POP3 server with
say a username webmaster. Is this possible? I believe I read you have to
edit the virtusertable. Is this a good and/or simple approach? Using this
method lets assume the POP3 account is webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxxxx The user is
Bob. To access the pop3 mail would Bob be able to login to the server using
Bob or webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxxx with the password for the user account Bob and
access his email?
Also, does anyone know of a decent GUI for managing POP3 accounts? How are
some others handling the issue? Are you going the alias route or the POP3
account route? I'd like to get a feel for what people think is the best
approach. It would be nice if Cobalt introduced a POP3 aspect to their GUI
(I have a couple other suggestions for the GUI, but that's neither here nor
there and I assume they all have been put forth).
Also if anyone could refer me to some good literature on the issue, POP3,
sendmail, etc, I'd be most appreciative.
I greatly appreciate any help and apologize if this is somewhat incoherent.
I need some sleep.
Regards,
Drew
