[cobalt-users] Qube 1 HTTP stopped working....

Qube 1 users *definitely* want to check this, others may get bitten
as well.

This message was waiting for me when I got in today:

>The Web Server has not been responding since 06:00am on Wed May 31 2000

>One of the services appears to be down. Within the Cobalt Qube

There's a slight problem with trying to use the Control Panel when
the Web Server's down, but anyway....

First up was to try and restart it "by hand".

Remembering that the Run Level is 3, looking in /etc/rc.d/rc3.d shows
Apr 10 18:48 S70httpd -> /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd.init

Looking in /etc/rc.d/init.d showed
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 906 Apr 10 18:47 httpd.init.pkgesave
and no httpd.init!

So I copied the above file to httpd.init and tried again. Still no joy.

/var/log/httpd/error now gave me this:

[error] (2)No such file or directory: httpd: could not open mime types log file
 /etc/httpd/conf/mime.types.

And guess what I found in /etc/httpd/conf instead?
Yup, a file called mime.types.pkgsave, dated April 10.

And what did I do April 10? As far as I can remember, that's when I decided to
get up to date with the latest software releases.

And why did it break today? Because it was trying to restart after rotating
the log files.

So, after running "find -mtime 50" from the root directory to find out what
else has been b*ggered about with, I'm left wondering - why is the old
kernel saved as "/usr/games/.doug" ????
