[cobalt-users] [RAQ2] Newbie Question - Telnet Reboot

Can somebody help this newbie that's screwed up the install of SSL, and can
no longer access the SiteManage screen to perform a reboot to correct the
problem?

In error the SSL server.key (and associated files) were renamed; I was
trying to make a copy. Then to add insult to injury, and having realised the
initial error, the copies were deleted - except they were not the copies;
then I rebooted the box :( This is when the fun really started!

After reboot, SSL can not be initialised because it can not find the key
files, and therefore will not load the siteManage screen. So I telnet'ed
into the box, renamed the copies of the SSL files (stay with me here - they
were the copies; I deleted the originals), and attempted to reboot the box.
According to my copy of the O'Reilly book, Essential System Administration
(p130) the command '" shutdown -r " should work just fine; except I keep
getting a message it can not be found (same problem occurs with reboot
command), and in both cases I can see the file without a problem.

Have checked the file flags " -rwxr-xr-x ", which appear Ok to me; but as a
newbie, what do I know? ls -aCFl shows the " * " which is believed to mean
the file is an executable/runnable.

Where have I gone wrong? It's probably something very simple; but I have
been trying to sort this for over five hours, its after 4am, and I can not
see the wood for the trees - somebody put me out of my misery; please!

In anticipation, thanks.
D.
