Re: [cobalt-users] SSL and Virtual Hosts

Zeffie,

After my last message I think I have it all working even if the client
wants to use the secure script from an insecure page. I didn't put the cart
scripts loose in the cgi-bin directory, but put them in their own
directory. So they are all in
	/home/httpd/cgi-gin/cartit
Then I made my very first symlink to make that directory also appear at
	/home/sites/site3/web/cgi-bin/cartit

That part of it is working fine. Now I've got a ton of actual configuration
to do, but the client is going to be pleased tomorrow.

As to your other question, I see no reason not to answer it online because
it is likely to be of interest to other RaQ users.

I have two servers at rackspace.com, the RaQ2 that we've been discussing
and a standard RedHat/Apache Intel box. Support is good as long as you
ignore the web support forms. If anything it's better in the middle of the
night. I've had the RaQ online since last September, brought up a
Thunderstone search engine (won't run on MIPS) on the PC a month or so later.

They aren't into heavy hand-holding, but they support their stuff very
completely. When I had a problem on the PC (couldn't log in via telnet)
they suspected a compromised server, copied my data and apps to tape,
reimaged the drive, replaced my files, and helped a bit with getting the
configuration restored. They had this in hand within an hour of identifying
the problem, and it did work.

With only two low-end servers (and a monthly bill of only about $400) I'm
hardly a significant customer, but I've been taken care of quite well.
