Hi folks,
I'm a little security conscious (paranoid?) ;-) and would like to turn off
the IMAP service on a RaQ3, for I don't need it.
I commented out the line in /etc/inetd.conf and also set the IMAP state to
"off" in /etc/cobalt/swatch/services/imap to prevent wrong error reports
issued by the swatch feature.
Well, anyway, this morning I had a flashing "Active Monitor" light in the
web interface complaining for the IMAP server was down. I found that there's
a "service" table in the postgres database containing the same informations
(service, time up, swatch state).
Now I wonder wheter this table stores the authoritative configuration and
the other files (e. g. the swatch config file) get rebuilt periodically, or
if it's just the other way round - the DB stores the state of several config
files for the ease of access?
What steps have to be taken to shut down the IMAP service in a "clean"
manner? Does this necessarily break the RaQ's configuration?
Thanks a lot,
Matthias
