Have you telneted in and done a netstat -a to check the connection status?
Someone mentioned tcpdump - it is already installed on my Qube2. If you use
it, you will need to tell it to not include the telnet port (23). Take a look
at man tcpdump. Also, ifconfig -a will tell you the status of your interfaces.

BTW, do remember that Windows networking periodically sends out a request to
find out what other Window machines might be connected to the network. That
can trigger DNS requests.

I do not remember, have you timed it to see what is its dialing pattern? Once
every 15 minutes, once an hour, etc.? I know the Windows default
sessionkeepalive setting in the registry is once an hour.

Can you pull the plug between the W2K machine and the Qube for a bit to see if
the pattern continues? That would at least tell you whether the two were
related.

  /snip/

Hope you find it.

Mike.
