Quick comment, even though I'm not your target audience: outside of the USA,
most people don't worry so much about the country of origin; they just look
for Really Good Stuff (tm). However, it is always assumed that among the
list of suppliers that make RGS, the States will be strongly represented.

In the slightly more specific case of Latin America, the nearest place with
really hot technology, a huge market, tons of suppliers, great
infrastructure, and good communications is the States; hence there is a very
strong preference in favor of US-made goods, since you can get hold of the
source fairly easily for support later. Personally, I buy a lot from the USA
for these same reasons.

Interestingly enough, while some people in the US feel superior, many/most
people in other countries happen to feel inferior. I've met many a case of
people buying imports rather than domestic goods in Latin America, because
"Not Invented Here" to them is a good thing: they distrust domestic goods,
even when they're sometimes as good or better.

I advocate (strongly, as you've seen) that we must find the Really Good
Stuff without prejudice as to where it's from or where we're from.
