When you telnet/ssh in you see:
NOTICE TO ROOT USER: Changes to system files may affect
your warranty. Please consult your warranty card for details.
If you install non-Cobalt supplied software and this install in turn
modifies a Cobalt system file as to affect the orginal factory set
configuration
preventing the appliance from operating normally than you have voided your
SOFTWARE warranty and Cobalt is under no legal obligation to assist you at
no charge in
restoring the system to factory default. This scenario does not affect the
warranty
on the HARDWARE. If you use the GUI to install a Cobalt-provided .PKG
software package
and it messes the system up then COBALT takes responsibility to repair it.
In practice if you know your way around linux and rpms and use standard
admin caution
and practices then there's not too much you can mess up by installing the
standard
bells and whistles. Be careful with anything that would conflict with a
service that
is already provided via the Raq GUI.
