Re: [cobalt-users] ASP - PHP

I have been coding ASP since IIS 3.0 and I really enjoy developing in that
environment. Just becuase I like coding ASP doesn't mean I'm a MS freak...I
actually prefer linux and have been using it since kernel 1.2 (I actually
attempted a beta loading of MCA support - don't ask!) Anyhow I have used
apache and Halcyon Software iASP product. I have to say it worked extremely
well - All I had to change was my odbc connections to jdbc. Everything else
ported without changing a line of code. I did have some problems with
JDK1.2.2 and the TWZ1 MySQL jdbc drivrs, or at least Halcyon said it was
problems between the JDK and the jdbc driver - I wouldn't be suprised if
their product had somethig to do with it. I dropped back to JDK1.7v3 and
haven't had any problems since - but many java developers will tell you many
a tell about using the latest JDK and not getting the results you expect.

Now that we are exclusivly deploying Cobalts, we have purchased our first
copy of ChiliSoft ASP. I haven't loaded it yet or even messed with it, but
I can't imagine it being that much different than Halcyon's version. Both
java based, etc. But if a lot of people are interested I will be more than
happy to write up a comparision for posting in a couple of weeks. We gotta
get the Chilisoft product in and loaded first ;)
