Guys
I've just noticed that the admin server is down on one of my servers - I'm
not sure since when but it won't come back up.
Obviously I tried /etc/rc.d/init.d/admserv restart then a stop and restart
then a hard-restart but every time I got
ahttpd dead but subsys locked when I did a status
I rebooted the box - no difference
If I do a netstat -pant I see
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:81 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
6245/httpd.admsrv
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:444 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
6245/httpd.admsrv
which suggests that it is listening as there is also a process when I do ps
faux
root 6245 0.1 1.2 8036 6300 ? S 09:57 0:03
/usr/sbin/httpd.admsrv -f /etc/admserv/conf/httpd.conf
root 6249 0.0 1.2 8220 6564 ? S 09:57 0:00 \_
/usr/sbin/httpd.admsrv -f /etc/admserv/conf/httpd.conf
now if I go to the box via the web i.e. ip/admin I get a HTTP Error 403 -
Forbidden response which seems odd to me.
if I look in /var/log/httd/adm_error I see this which is even odder
[Fri May 7 09:57:45 2004] [notice] Apache/1.3.20 Sun Cobalt (Unix)

routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:http request [Hint: speaking HTTP to HTTPS
port!?]
BTW it doesn't matter if I try https://ip/admin I get the same error.
The box is patched and other than that all I have done is upgrade php using
nuonce.net
Any ideas - I've tried all I know.
Thanks
Gavin
