[cobalt-users] How to stop the Sendmail service to do backup of user mail files

Is stopping sendmail via a Cron job straightforward on a Raq550, or will 
there be gotchas? What I'd like to be able to do is stop sendmail, tar up all 
the user folders (including mailbox files), and ftp that tarball to another 
server. Just because of the volume of mail that the Raq gets, I have a 
feeling a lot of mailbox files are being skipped as they may be open at the 
time the backup usually runs.

Also if there is a script or other tool that works on Raq's that does this, 
please pass it on. I hate re-inventing the wheel, especially when my wheel is 
much crappier.
