- Cobalt isn't perfect. Admittedly. Goes with out saying

- They have (IMHO) made significant improvements from 1 to 3.
Remember....this list covers all Cobalt products. The Raq3 has many
    improvements over its siblings.

- Many problems stem from usage that the box was never designed for.
The box was designed for website hosting. Period. It was never designed
to be a high availability server with Raid5, Hot Swap Drives, Etc... It
was
never designed (at least the RaQs) a workgroup server. And so on...

- Many problems stem from bugs/limitations in the Linux OS or Application
software
Yes. 'tis true. Linux has bugs. <frown> So does Apache, Sendmail,
ProFTP...
You have to remember that Cobalt has taken these third party products
and incorporated them into one nice neat package. They can't all the
blame
for bugs and/or limitations in third-party products.

- Many problems stem from lack of knowledge on the part of the user.
Since the RaQ product is marketed as an "appliance" -- one that is easy
to
setup and doesn't take a rocket scientist to administer, many of the
people
that have purchased the RaQ are not versed in the operations of a Linux
server. They want to do things that the Cobalt GUI doesn't allow, so
they
work outside of the GUI (without knowing the ins and outs of doing so)
and
    inevitably they break something.

That being said, the points was trying to make in regard to the "Triton"
were:

- It is a first generation box that isn't even released yet. Untested.
- It is being put together (apparently) by a small company from
off-the-shelf parts.
- Being new - it will have just as many problems if not more than the RaQ1
did.
- Being a small company, they will have just as many support problems as
Cobalt did.
- Being based on NT it will most definitely CRASH more than the RaQs!
- The interface, as described sounds, like a basic perl script that adds
virt sites.
- The interface isn't even done yet.

> I personally will never buy a Raq3 due to all of the problems i have seen
on
> this list.

You should keep in mind that this is a SUPPORT FORUM. The list is here to
help solve problems. That is why you see nothing BUT problems. I really
don't have time
to post about all the things that have gone RIGHT with my RaQ. :)

I've said my peace....let the flaming begin. :)
