RE: [cobalt-users] RaQ3 and FrontPage

In FP2000, the open web is different than that. (Also doesn't crash as much)
:)
They HAVE to specify http://thedomain.com. If they don't put the http in, it
looks on local computer.

When you create a virtual host w/ FP extensions, YOU (as the admin) will be
able to open the site, then you add a user and grant them Admin priviliges
and THEY can open the site.
IF you want them to only open their own subdirectory on the site, ie
~username then you have to create the username WITH FP enabled site, which
creates a subdirectory of the root named ~username.
They have to look at http://thedomain.com/~usersname to find their web.

Make sure you have installed the latest updates for your RaQ, as the latest
ones have fixed some Frontpage problems.

I don't understand what the problem is, When you open front
page and
select "Open an Existing Front Page:"
(note it doesn't make any difference if you have never
created a front page on this site)
Click the "More Webs Button"
Enter the FQDN in the "Select a Web Server of Disk Location
Field" i.e. http://www.mydomain.com
Click on the "List Webs" button.
The text box titled "Front Page Webs found at location will
list all the /web directories that are Front Page Enabled.
<Root Web>
~userweb
If you want the root web select <Root Web> else select the
users web.
Click the "OK" button
Next you are presented with a log-in dialog box.
If you are at the root web enter the site administrators
user name and password
And You Are IN!!!
What could be easier. M$ Software may crash several times a
day, but, you have to give them credit they do have an
intuitive user interface.
