Re: [cobalt-users] "Bug" in the Cobalt GUI

At 04:30 PM 3/10/00 -0500, you wrote:

Would you mind sharing who the registrar was you used to acquire the domain
name? I just tried a whois on the domain and recieved the usual 'No Match'
message. Then again, I have no idea how long ago you registered this domain
so it may not have made it to the root servers yet.

Here's the response I just got using <www.geektools.com/whois.html>:

Server used for this query: [ whois.networksolutions.com ]

Unable to find any information for your query!

Here's what I got using the BW whois script on my linux system:

[admin admin]$ whois art--artist.com
<http://www.shellserve.net/>
connecting to whois.internic.net [198.41.0.6] ...
Not found: art--artist.com.

Whois Server Version 1.1

Domain names in the .com, .net, and .org domains can now be registered
with many different competing registrars. Go to http://www.internic.net
for detailed information.

No match for "ART--ARTIST.COM".

>>> Last update of whois database: Sat, 11 Mar 00 03:10:22 EST <<<

The Registry database contains ONLY .COM, .NET, .ORG, .EDU domains and
Registrars.

[admin admin]$

So it looks like there may indeed be a problem with the domain name.

For those who may be interested in it, here's the copyright information on BW whois:

BW whois

Designed to work with the new-mangled whois system introduced 1 Dec 1999.
