Simon,
We had the EXACT same problem with an RaQ3i which was running Proftp
1.2.Opre8. But unfortunately I wouldn't even begin to suggest a resolution
as we eventually replaced the system. I *think* the problem actually started
after installing some software, but we couldn't be sure because the system
was only a few days old when we noticed the problem. It was like walking
through thick mud when connected via FTP. You would be lucky if you could
successfully upload one file before it would lock up and kick you off the
system. Up-ing the default timeout to 900 sec didn't help..
--BUT-- At the same time, our system was experiencing at least a 25% packet
loss, sometimes more... It turned out it wasn't the network, or it's
connection, it was the box and/or some piece of software on the Cobalt that
was causing the problem. We, a consultant, and the network techs themselves
spent no less than 4 good days trying to figure this one out, and to no
avail.. Have you possibly recently installed any new software on the
system..?
