Just had the same problem with a 3i. Never got past 'loading kernel'.
Check the processor fan. The lead wire on mine was loose and it seems that
the processor overheated which lead to kernel corruption and other nasty
things.

Subject: [cobalt-users] BOOTING PROBLEM ON RAQ3i
Last night at around 8:30 pm my raq 3i locked. no web service no telnet no
console access with hyperterminal.
I waiting until about 10:30 hoping it would clear itself it didnt.
I shut it down by turniong off the power switch with the thought well there
is
nothing more to lose here..
it loaded the kernal and then stayed with the word BOOTING on the front LCD
console
I let it stay that way for approx 12 hours and then got desperate using the
4
button reboot method to no avail and also trying to let it boot with the ROM
kernal.
Again no results at all other then when booting from ROM it locked on
loading
lernal for about an hour before i shut it down.
I have roughly 150 domains on this unit. yes i have a good backup and even
a
second raq3i i can rebuild on if i have to... what i am wondering is is
there a
method to reboot it just so i can get rear consile access or remote access
from a
pc on the network so i can go in and see if the HD failed or not and
possibly fix
any corrupted files that may be keeping it from booting.
Thanks any help is appreciated.
Joe
