Re: [cobalt-users] Windows guy has "newbie" question...

Brian:

First, add some members to your "home " group. That is the group that has
the privledges to edit the "home" page. Go to the Administrator page and add
some members (such as yourself) to that group (Login as admin and use the
admin password you setup when you installed the Qube). Your main page should
be index.html which should be located in your \groups\home directory. You'll
see that when your logged in as someone who is a member of the "home" group.
Your "public" site will now be available at www.mydomain.com/cobalt.

Subject: [cobalt-users] Windows guy has "newbie" question...

Salute All,

We just got a Qube2 and it's all set up except for 1 thing: How do I set up
the http://www.mydomain.com website? I'm not talking DNS, I'm talking the
actual site itself.
It says on the public site home page to put it at "/home/groups/home" but
where is that? I'm using Frontpage and I see the <root> web and have
modified the "index" file. It flashes up when you access the Qube but then
gets replaced by the public home page. I tried looking at the directory
structure using SMB file sharing but that doesn't show the structure they
mention. Do I need to create this structure? I'm logging into the Qube as
the administrator...should I log in as root? I'm MCSE not Linux ( but
something tells me I've got a couple of Linux and Apache books in my
future... :) . I must admit to a certain frustration level with Cobalt's
"documentation".
Due to my inexperience with Linux I'm trying to avoid the Telnet command
line route for right now.

I'd REALLY like to know the following:

 1. how to post a web site for the outside world
 2. how to rename/relocate the "public" site so it's not available outside
my intranet ( can I do that without hosing the script's references? )
 3. Can a Qube2 host multiple domains on a single IP address? ( I'm not
afraid of host headers...)
 4. If Frontpage ain't the way to go, what content tool would you use?
 5. A GOOD Linux book for a beginner : )
 6. A GOOD Apache book for a beginner : )
