Since your catalog is a text file, you could do this using the GUI, by
pasting it into the "Vacation/Autoresponder e-mail reply:" field (with the
tick set) for user "catalog", under "Personal Profile" - "Email". This
would then be sent automatically as a mail item to the requester (with the
limitation of only once per day or week to the one person - something's
amiss if they ask for it more than once, anyway).
