Except that some sites either block alt.* or else find that 
the propagation of the group creation itself, or propagation 
of postings is not very good.

comp.sys.cobalt would work better, although the creation 
process is a bit more involved than for alt.

For those worried about spam, this I find is not such an 
issue these days.  My latest posting ID receives very little.
On the other hand I still get spam in for accounts that haven't 
posted to Usenet for literally years.
