Hawke,
I'm afraid I don't have good news for your either.
After fooling around with it for a couple hours, finding the magic
"press-and-hold-the-password-reset-button-while-powering-on" secret
combination to enable the serial port for console, making a null-modem
cable, and connecting another computer running terminal software, I was
successful. As the Qube2 booted, I saw console messages flash across my
terminal window, ending in a list of menu choices.
Which solved nothing.
The menu looked manufacturing related. I saw nothing like a
boot-to-single-user prompt, or any other way to get a regular system prompt
be able to type linux commands.
Maybe I missed something - this seems to be highly un-documented territory -
I was expecting something similar to the "rescue" functionality that is
provided with most linux distros.
In the end, I disconnected serial port and dismissed the console port
feature as unusable in the field.
FYI,
Doug
