I think PacBell is doing the same thing as BellAtlantic and BellSouth
here on the east coast are doing. Allowing you to terminate DSL into
an ATM connection (though there was also talk about going into Frame).

If this is the case -- you might want to verify that you can get an
ATM card for the Qube2 first. I know there are ATM cards out there
for the PCI architectures of the PC -- but not too clear what's in
the Qube2.

Here, the Bells use the RFC 1483 ATM-to-Ethernet bridging mode to carry
the signal. If you want to be able to authenticate your users with a
username and password. This works especially well if your box also
can act as a RADIUS client in which way it would work the same as any
dial-up NAS such as a TotalControl, Ascend MAX, PortMaster3, etc.

Next, check out some of the following URLs for info on PPPoE
implementations:

	http://www3.sympatico.ca/bcarrick/pppoefaq.htm
	http://www.suse.de/~bk/PPPoE-project.html

The idea with PPPoE is that you can use the location where the ATM
terminates as a NAS by doing the RFC 1483 bridging of ATM to Ethernet
and then running a PPPoE session across that for the DSL and your
server acts in the same way a NAS would for authentication against
a RADIUS server or what have you...
