Thanks Jeff for your continued support on this matter...

I must add that while we do pick our mail up from Demon, we do not dial-up
to Demon. We have a leased line provided by British Telecom(BT), and
therefore Demon would not neccessarily be assigning us an IP address, as
they are incapable of doing so. We have static IPs provided by BT.

Ah; I'm beginning to understand. If you're using a leased line, then there's a simple way. But why are you using demon for email at all? Presumably because you have a domain hosted by them. Can't they just enter an MX record pointing to your mail-server on your leased line? That would be the easiest way.

If they can't, then you might be able to use third party DNS; you'd have to contract with a company to do it (we do third-party DNS hosting: see <www.ns-one.net>) and change your internic root-server records.

They're currently hosted at Network Solutions, and show:

Domain servers in listed order:

   NS0.DEMON.CO.UK 158.152.1.65
   NS1.DEMON.CO.UK 158.152.1.193
   NS2.DEMON.NET 207.69.194.186

They could just as easily point to us:

Domain servers in listed order:

   NS1.NS-ONE.NET 216.98.152.18
   NS2.NS-ONE.NET 216.98.138.79
   NS3.NS-ONE.NET 216.98.152.19

We're already hosting some DNS for Demon subscribers.

The problem I see in you doing it this way is that Demon Internet owns all the contact information for your domain. How come? Don't you own your domain? You should be the administrative contact at least.

This little mod you pointed me to:

>user lion-breath is * fetchall

Wasn't me. The other Jeff, perhaps?
