I sure hope none of us have to face an issue of not having broadband access
in the future. With companies such as teledesic that will be offering
high-bandwidth low-latency solutinos ANYWHERE in the world, including the
middle of the pacific ocean or sahara desert, fiber to the home could very
well become obsolete! Pretty cool stuff.

Almost everywhere in the US can get ISDN. And everywhere can get 56k frame
relay, which isn't really that expensive.

This is an issue with the ISP. He should be able to get DSL access from any
DSL ISP that is on the same network that you are on. I.E. pretty much any
ISP that offers DSL on both GTE and USWest networks in Western WA can offer
service anywhere in West WA. Pretty cool.
