I have noticed there are a bunch of people running
a Qube, @home, and NAT. I have a cable modem and a qube 2 and i want to
distribute my connect to 4 PCs and an iMac through my D-Link switch. I
have the cable modems IP set to 192.168.1.1 and the other computers set with the
consecutive IPs. I am able to see the other computers in network neighborhood,
copy files on and off the Qube but I can't get an internet connection.
Here is the list of what I am confused about.
Cable: Should I use a cross-over cable or just a
regular patch cable?
Hostname: Should it be that CX........
thing? (This is what they put as name in the Computer
Name box in the
Network control panel on windows 98)
Domain Name: should that be
home.com?
DNS: Should the DNS be the address of @home's
DNS server
Default Gateway: What do I put in
here?
IP Forewording: Should it be
checked?
Secondary Interface: What should I put as the
IP address, the modem's IP or the IP @home
gives me (it is what can be telneted
into)?
DHCP: Do I need to set this up, or can I leave the
192.168.*.* on the workstations?
Thank you for your effort.
Sincerely,
Jeff
