Maybe "these people" think that in the linux kernel directory, there is an
architecture directory for both MIPS and I386... and that all you have to
do is change a few files and symbolic links to point to which ever one
matches your processor. Then there are a few other simple modifications,
and linux takes over the rest. I'm sure, however, that Cobalt has directed
all of its additional staff (do they have staff??) to the customer support
phones which are ringing off the hook... so they didn't have time (or care
enough about existing customers) to keep up with the last-year-model systems.
