Daniel,
Your point has been made before, possibly even by yourself. In some cases, I
will agree with you. The point of much of the griping in this list however,
is more valid than not.
- Many of the users have experienced little or no helpful, timely,
professional support from Cobalt when contacting them directly. There is no
reason for any company, much less one that is public to provide the level
(??) of support that they do.
- Many of the complaints are valid bugs
- Many of the issues are features which are obviously important to a large
number of Cobalt customers. That, in and of itself should say to Cobalt
"This is what they want, ho wto we work with them so they stay customers,
purchase more of our products, and recommend them to everyone they know?"
Cobalt is obviously interested in making money, why else would they keep
bringing out newer, more expensive models. What they don't realize is that
if they work on improving what they have, they will gain tremendous customer
loyalty.
I basically do use my Raq2 for it's intended, basic purpose. There are
always features which would be more helpful which the manufacturer didn't
realize. I've been following this thread for quite a while; about 3000
postings or so. I've folowed many issues, some which applied to me, some
which didn't but I was interested, some which were valid requests, and some
which were obviously more advanced functions.
If Cobalt added more basic support, maybe they could get away with a paying
program which would integrate/support more advanced features.
Well, I've rambled enough for one morning,
Larry

manual? ]
I would like to remind you all about the usage for cobalt products.
An easy to install, appliance which gives you the basic features needed in a
microserver. Anything else is up to the user/administrator.
Is it possible that just because it's a Linux machine a lot of people thinks
that it should have all the features in the GUI that you have in shell???
You can hack away in shell, and make it do almost anything you can expect
from a Linux server, but to have all this in the GUI would make it a lot
more advanced than necessary for a wide range of users (and more expensive).
A lot of people don't buy a toaster to make tea or boil eggs, but everybody
expects the Qube to do it all...
My own thoughts about the subject....
A qube is a qube, and a toaster is a toaster...
