Re: [cobalt-users] administration - web or manual?
Rik,
I would agree with your comments, except that Cobalt doesn't support standard
Linux features that are needed on a daily basis by most ISP's. This includes
features that are missing or have been removed from the OS. Some features in
the RAQ severs just don't work, such as CNAME, for starters.
When we try and get help to get the server working the way we need it to, and
we can't even speak to anyone, let alone in a reasonable time period. To top
it off, Cobalt does not usually appear to be interested in making the changes
we need to make the servers more functional and even more marketable.
Yes, the servers are good for the basic functions, but the people here are
saying we want and expect more. We all want to be Number one, not number two.
People here are not throwing the servers out, we are trying to make them more
functional, and we all hope that Cobalt is listening to what we, their
customers, are saying we want as improvements. No matter how much you hear us
gripe, I, for example, just ordered a Qube for a customer today and may order
another one within the next week or so.
In summary, nobody is throwing the Cobalt servers in dumpsters. Cobalt has a
good start in creating a great web server, but it's not there yet. We all want
Cobalt's servers to be the best, as it will help us be the best, and we are
working toward that goal one server at a time, with or without Cobalt tech
support. We all just wish Cobalt tech support would cooperate more.
