Re: [cobalt-developers] Interbase on the Raq 550 + PHP

Ok,
Without getting to deep off hand there are two version of
InterBase/Firebird. Classic and Super Server.

Classic creates a new process each time a connection is made to the
database. It can be used in SMP systems. However you can't use any
graphical interface with it. Only the command line tools.

Super Server is a multi-threaded version which may have less threads
than connections or more. However it can not be used on SMP systems and
is best for single proc systems. Super Server does allow connections to
it via graphical interfaces. It has an API that the Classic Server
lacks.

So you have two choices. Develop the db on a machine with Super Server
if you want to use a GUI like IBConsole, IBManager, IBAccess, etc. Then
backup and restore the db on your Cobalt.

Otherwise look into upgrading or installing the Super Server edition.

Also FYI, if you are using Open Source InterBase, you should really
switch to Firebird for too many reasons for me to go into.
