Matt,
Gerald,

Thanks a lot!

Seems to become a never ending story. Having built gmake I've got the next
problem and so on. After more than 10 hours work I give it up. Replacing a
lot of Qube's software with newer (unsupported) releases cannot be the idea
and will probably break the Qube's warranty/support.

Today we decided not to support that third party vendors software. Either he
is willing to support glibc 2.1.3 or we are looking for someone else
providing the functionality we are looking for. Another option is to make a
new product especially designed for Cobalt Qube and RaQ servers.

What I have learned from this lesson is that the Qube (and other Cobalt
systems as well) has its limitations. As a software development company we
can easily design our software in a way it not only runs on the Qube, but
also makes use of its features for easy administration, setup and
maintenance. When it comes to third party software it can be quite difficult
to get support from the vendors/manufacturers (from either side).
