[cobalt-developers] Starting INterbase 6 SQL Server

I am running a RaQ 4r with Interbase 6 SQL Server installed on it. Does
anyone know how to start the Interbase Server. I have tried almost
everything that I can find from Interbase on the subject. One method that
sort-of worked was uncomment the last line of the inetd.conf file &
restarting the inetd service with a kill command. Problem with that is that
it locks up all other ports. In fact after doing that if you do not remain
connected via telnet you will lock yourself out of the server entirely. As
I did yesterday & had to wipe my OS today to regain access. I tried again
with a couple other scenarios this time not disconnecting my telnet. When I
uncomment the last line, my client side diagnostic test of the server works,
but the standard database connection fails. With the line commented out
both the diagnostic & standard connections to the remote server fail.

Anyone turned this thing on yet. If so how. The client side is assume for
an open source. Should I just not bother & use postgres instead. Does
postgres have a client side GUI?
