[cobalt-developers] Qube 2700WG or Qube2 as Wireless Accesspoint

Hi guys,

This might be a little out there, but I think it would be real cool to use a
Qube 2700WG or Qube2 as an 802.11b Wireless Accesspoint. A real accesspoint
might be easier, but it is another box ... besides the Qube 2700WG and Qube2
have a PCI slot which is often unused.

On the surface all it would take is a Lucent ORINOCO PCI Adapter, a Lucent
ORINOCO 11 Mbps PC Card (Silver) and appropriate driver software. After
that the wireless interface could be used just as another ethernet interface
so adding routing and supporting DHCP clients shouldn't be that hard.

Has anyone ventured into this area?

Would it be a lot harder than it sounds.

I presume getting a MIPS version of the required driver would be the hardest
bit.

Cheers, Malcolm
