Hi Jeff,

no need to take the discussion off this list,
as far as I'm concerned. I my self would like
to get more insights into tuning and load
balancing the RaQs and understanding sendmails
behaviour under heavy load. Who knows, someday
I might have the same problem or somebody else
had and probably solved this problem allready?

I worked many years with different computer
and software companies (and I'm still working
with one) so I simply know how the business
feels like on both ends.

It was just my intention to take a little
pressure from the maintainance guys. What they
could do with the problem is the same as what
we could do, imo: run the software under certain
loads and measure and analyse bottle-necks.
At least that's what i would do.

My *feeling* is it, that the problem lies in the
sendmail area, not in the kernel. But that's
just my feeling, I'm not an expert in either area.

I just wanted to take out some of the emotional
pressure from the discussion.

If you need some test-email accounts on my
mailserver to send bulk into them, say so.
Perhaps others are willing to participate
and you could set up a realistic test?
