A lot of it depends on the environment it is in, in a non dusty situation a
fan will last for years, whereas I've seen a machine stuck next to a
spectacle lens profile grinding machine where the fans lasted 3 days, just
about from the moment the started moving they were eating carborundum dust
and glass, and were scrap along with anything else that had a moving part in
it.

The same with hard drives really - if you get a bad one they can fail almost
immediately, whereas I've seen other ones that lasted 8 or 9 years and have
been pulled simply due to lack of capacity.
The fact that the machine is left on 24/7 is actually beneficial in a lot of
ways, whilst a machine is on the power supply is nice and stable, when it is
undergoing power cycles peaks and troughs can occur causing damage despite
the brevity of their nature.
I think really what I would say here is plan for a failure, have spares to
hand - but there is nothing to say that a brand new drive is going to
actually outlast the one you have in there.
