We block over 10,000 suspected spam emails a day from just one server,
using blocklists and referring any accidentally caught senders to our
"http://www.spamblocked.net/"; site, where they can learn how to get
back in our good graces <smile>.

Here are the blocklists we use (in no particular order since we're
always testing for efficiency):

sbl.spamhaus.org
relays.ordb.org
bl.spamcop.net
dnsbl.njabl.org
cbl.abuseat.org

and most of the dnsbl.sorbs.net lists.

If you decide to do something similar to what we do and create your own
page where people can visit to get back on your lists, you may copy as
much of our site as you want, except for the name "Spam Blocked" which
is a registered business, and the two anti-spam logos, for which we
don't own the copyright (but which we use by permission).

Note that you may not want to be as aggressive as we are, as I know of
no easy way to get a whitelist into sendmail. We filter our email
using a box running RHL7.3, exim, and several filters we've built
ourselves.
