I would like to downgrade the Kernel on my RAQ4. I have one machine with
Dialtone/Interland, and I'm aware that any Kernel with them after C28 is
unstable. From my research, this problem seems to be unique to Dialtone
(now Interland). Some people have said it has something to do with their
routers. I don't know. But I just did an OS restore and loaded all of
the patches thinking maybe the latest Kernel is finally stable with them,
but not luck. The machine goes down about once per day.
People here seem to think it's a load ot rubbish about their kernel issues,
something internal to Dialtone/Interland - we moved machines, the problem
disappeared along with their network... mysterious eh? NOT! email me
off-list for details - we have never had issues since moving.
Could someone tell me the specific line commands for downgrading the
Kernel back to C28? I thought this was in the archives somewhere, but
after an hour of searching I'm giving up and asking.
Don't do it - move your servers - if you are leasing, it's relatively easy
to move the sites and data without downtime or for someone here on the
group to help. I know we would help if you wanted space from our racks, or
to lease machines from us, but we can advise on any move you might make -
start with the DNS servers! ;{)
