This is very true. I know Road Runner and Verizon require you to use their
smtp server in many areas across the US. There are several other providers
that require it as well. This eliminates the spammers that mail forward. 
I know we have been run over with spam lately and there seems no way to stop
it. I have customers that made the infamous mistake of replying to stop the
mail. Now they get 300 messages a day (5 good, the rest spam). There has to
be a way to slow it down.
