Ryan, and all....

  Any thoughts been given to using or incorporating "openpkg" 
(www.openpkg.org) into the picture.  They already have several distro's that 
are supported and quite a few "app" layer things that are supported and it 
allows one to "add" things to a system without changing (or barfing) the core 
install of that system...
