[cobalt-users] forcing changes in web face for dns

A while ago someone asked where the serial number is stored on the dns
setup. I still am looking but haven't found it. I did find the perl
scripts in /usr/sausilito on my RaQ550 and the like, but I have a long
way to go to figure out where settings are actually stored. (I am new
to 550 architecture) I found some function that seems to use time and
a chomp function. I haven't found where all the sausilito perl
funcions are defined. (And I'm greatly hoping that Sun will be making
all their formerly very expensive class materials and sausilito
documentation available for the downloading.)

Apparently on a RaQ550 it is generated, based on the time, but not the
standard http://www.dnsreport.com (or org - i'm typing from memory)
way, where the recommended serial no is YYYYMMDDNN (year, month, day,
two-digits from 00 - 99). Also, I'm working out with my ISP doing
reverse delegation and the /etc/named.conf specifies the reverse zones
name with a '/' even though the file name has '-'.
the zone starts "192/" but the file starts "db.192-". My ISP (and
secondary DNS) told me
it has become the standard to use the "-" in both zones.

Anyone know if these things can be changed (besides having to go in
maually, after using the web interface each time - or alternatively is
there a way to maintain DNS without using the web interface?
