1. I thought that the command 'last' displays the contents of
   /var/log/wtmp and that 'lastlog' displays the content of the
   lastlog file.

2. The output of both commands, 'last' and 'lastlog' is about 200
   lines long, which is to say both last and lastlog should be
   relatively small files.

3. /var/log/lastlog is now exactly the same size as it was when I
   asked. I think something is broken -- but what?
