I had similar issues , and its called harvesting. Its were companies
directory harvest customer bases. Due to amount of increase
'of this type of activity we eventually outsourced the
filtering to postini.
For 25 cents per email account holder, it was well worth the piece
of mind. When they start harvesting now Postini places the IP into
a spammers list and block further connections to the mail server.
Sure wish we knew how they built this filter as well. Any ideas?
Does Spam assassin stop directory harvesting ?
