I have asked this question a number of times in the previous months but I
haven't gotten too much help. This is what is going on with our Qube3
Professional. For some reason after a week 1/2 or 2 weeks of being up
logrotate does not rotate the /var/log/maillog file properly and instead of
starting a new day with maillog it continues writing the log file to
maillog.1. This is a problem since I run SMA and SMA runs its reports by
looking at /var/log/maillog but the file is empty and so the SMA report is
also empty. I tried to fix it by logging in as root and then runnning
./logrotate and it runs but I see no output, no errors no nothing and
Sendmail is still logging to /var/log/maillog.1 instead of the maillog file.
The only solution I have is to actually reboot the machine... The funny
thing is that this has been happening mostly on Sundays... Any ideas? I am
lost!
Thanks,
Santiago.
