This is an abbreviated part of a much longer story - I'm sort of in
the middle of. My ultimate goal is to update an xtr so it can run as
a 550. (I'm keeping track of what I'm doing and will stick the account
on a web site when I'm done).
I can't seem to get access to my server, except for the admin interface.
To test moving software and my sites from an xtr to a 550, I bought a
RaQ 3i, with the 550 software. I set this up on a subnet created on my
inside 192.168.1.x network. To prepare for the transition I
reinstalled the OS from the OSRCD and l ran all the 550 update
packages from sun and all the kernel and software packages from nuonce
(both free and commercial) except the Radius server because it
wouldn't load. And while I could update and set things up OK, I could
get the administrative web interface working but I could not get the
users web interface working or a site interface.
My first attempts were befuddling. I would try to load up
http://newserver.insidenet.org and get a message "newaserver could not
be found." Finally, I realized that while I had the domain correct I
had mispelled the name of the thing at the initial set up. What
happens is that if I go to the machine by IP as
http://192.168.1.7/admin I can get to the admin interface without a
problem. But if I try to go to http://192.168.1.7 I wind up not at
newserver.insidenet.org but at testsite.insidenet.org. Yet if I try to
go to anything from there I still get the "newaserver could not be
found." Maybe it is cacheing issues or something - I had to purge the
ssl certificates from my web browser to even log on.
Does anyone know what I need to do to get the web working for sites
and users and web mail etc. It seems totally whacked.
I was able to get samba going with no real problems and also to add to
external disks which I need to use as additional storage. The RaQ 5
isn't really designed does anyone know the correct way to specify
additional storage so it will be used automatically or as an option
when creating new sites and users.
