I think this is probably due to the fact that one of the updates took MySQL
out of all runlevels, this is actually noted in the install help text
displayed when installing the particular update.

"chkconfig --level 345 mysql on"
Will tell init to start mysql when it enters runlevels 3, 4 or 5.
