[cobalt-users] MySQL not starting on Raq550

Hi all,

I just set up a Raq3 with Raq550 OS. Everything works fine so far.
I installed the MySQL Update from www.pkgmaster.com and updated the MySQL
Version to 3.23.54.
But it seems MySQL isn't starting. I tried to change the password and now I
get the error that the server can't connect to the MySQL Server:

ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

Well I'm an absolute newbie when it comes to startup things. I tried
manually starting mysql:

[root admin]# /usr/sbin/mysqld
Fatal error: Please read "Security" section of the manual to find out how to
run mysqld as root!
031027 10:34:26  Aborting

031027 10:34:26  /usr/sbin/mysqld: Shutdown Complete

Well I know I should run it as user mysql, my old Raq3 created this username
by default.

So what can I do now ?
