RE: [cobalt-users] Mac users can't FTP: Claranet?

Thanks for all the replies, the problem was a new issue with Mac users
having a sudden problem connecting to my server for FTP who had previously
been able to FTP quite happily. (Despite nothing new having changed at
either their end or on the server.)

Anyway, with a little suggestion from Scott McPeak at safetp (which has been
happily installed and in use since I got the RAQ in 2001!) I removed the -9
flag from the sftpd command in the /etc/inetd.conf so it would accept
unsecure connections.

As I had set the server up to accept unsecure connections on the default
port (21), and secure only on port 351, I've no idea why this became
neccessary (as I've said everything worked for Mac users until a few days
ago), but now Mac users can connect using FTP once more. Yipee!

BTW, thanks for your thoughts on Mac FTP programmes, I will pass the
infomraiton on to my Mac users - first time I've had any decent advice for
them!

Kind regards,
Liam
