A few quick questions as I am mulling over revamping my Raq 3i.
My Raq 3i is currently happily living its life as a Raq 4R, but I am running
out of space. So, I wish to swap out the hard drives for something
considerably larger. I currently have a pair of 20gb 5400rpm seagates in
there. I was considering a pair of Maxtor DiamondMax16 160gb/5400 rpm
drives. I was wondering if anyone ever used this sort of a drive in there,
and more importantly, will these be too much for the 60W power supply? In
case it matters, I have a 500MHz cpu in there too. The power draw for the
drives is as follows:
Seek mode 628mA@5V & 587mA@12V
Idle 582mA@5V & 224mA@12V
Standby 116mA@5AV & 41mA@12V
My final question is that given that I will have a chance for a total
rebuild / fresh start, which OS would you choose? Raq 4R or Raq 550?
I have the Raq 4R os running now pretty well with things like upgraded php,
mysql, MailScanner, F-Prot, etc... From what I've seen it just doesn't seem
like there are as many packages and whatnot out there for the 550.
Thanks in advance for you input,
Adam Dein
