Because of the hardware peculiarities in the RaQs, putting a 'standard' OS on
isn't as easy as you might think.
There is already a NetBSD port for the old MIPS-powered RaQs but I don't think
it exists for the RaQ 4. There are instructions at www.gurulabs.com on how
to put vanilla Red Hat onto a Qube; RaQ should be the same. There are also
instructions someplace for putting Slackware on a RaQ 4. Can't remember the
URL, but Google for "slackware raq" and you should be good.

Ensure the serial port is enabled by powering up the RaQ with the password
reset button held in (hole next to LCD). If LCD says "CONSOLE OFF" it was on;
repeat the power on process to turn it back on.
RaQ 4 by default uses 115200 as baud rate on the console; that might be your
problem as well.
Installing stuff via serial is slow at best; use Ethernet if you can
(crossover cable). Or follow gurulabs.com instructions and remove the HD,
install the OS on another generic box, then put the HD back in the RaQ.
And as always, if you have success, please consider documenting what you did
so others may benefit. Post to cobaltfacts/cobalt-users list, add it to the
HowTo at www.cobaltfaqs.com, etc.
