[cobalt-users] DNS question

Hi all,

This might be a simple one, I'm not sure.

I use 123-reg for all my domain names and usually just transfer the
nameservers once I've bought a new domain. Through their control panel, I
can manage the DNS, creating A records and MX records.

So, if the nameserever are pointed at the 123-reg nameservers and I set up A
and MX records, what would I need to do on my server to host the site.

My plan is that in the event of a serious HW failure on my Raq, I could set
the sites up on my second server and then just change the A and MX records.
This would hopefully mean that the sites would be live quickly, rather than
waiting 24 hours for the nameservers to update in which time I would
probably have the broken Raq fixed anyway.

I tried setting the domains up with 4 nameservers and then just set up
identical DNS settings on both servers but things seemed to get confused.
Mail would be sent to one server but the user would pick up mail from the
other one and not receive it, things like that.

Is there a better way of achieving some sort of redundancy?
