Personally I'd go with either Linux or freeBSD rather than with Solaris,
but that might be a prejudiced answer; I prefer open source.
However, the big issue with point-and-click isn't for the box admin, but
rather for the clients. If you switch to any "straight" Linux/Unix
implementation your clients won't have a gui anymore; you'll either have
to build or buy one (and Webmin doesn't cut it for website management),
or try to make one of the open-source ones work (I've never found one I
like), or do all your support manually for all your clients.
We've been spending a lot of time with DirectAdmin, and I'm happy to
give anyone who wants it a "reseller" account on a test box we maintain,
so they can see how they like it.
