I have solaris running on a wintel machine here as an evaluation to see
if it can replace the cabalts. It is a potent, stable OS, but dont
expect anything like the cobalt gui. I think it is a good step if you
are familiair with configuring and managing a box manualy. I started out
with the cobalts because they had the GUI, but i have looked and
modified so much config files over time, i realy dont need the gui
anymore to survive.
If you are looking for a point-and-click solution, you probaly will be
dissapointed with solaris, as it is not an out-of-the-box hosting
solution. Adding webmin to Solaris, will get you very close to that.
